Our Soldier

This is my 7th child, Marcus.  He joined our family when he married my daughter Rachel.  For the past 11 months he has been away learning how to be a soldier.  To serve our country protecting our freedoms and keep us safe.  Today he graduated #1 in his class from his training.  We are so very proud of him.  He has worked hard and sacrificed time with his wife, to do this for not only his family but everyone.  Most of all he has learned that he can do hard things.  I believe that this lesson is one that will serve both he and Rachel in the future.  Life in the  military is very hard--hard for the soldier, and hard for his family.  I know that Marcus and Rachel have used this time apart to prepare for those future hardships.  This is a bittersweet day for me because I know this means that Rachel will be moving to New York soon.  I have loved having her so close and will miss her greatly.  This being said, I know the path they are on is guided by our Heavenly Father and I am so happy for them.  They are a great couple and have blessed my life greatly.  Now they have to move forward, not only doing hard things, but sharing their wonderful spirits with others.  I am proud of them both.
Congratulations Marcus and Rachel--this is the beginning of a wondrous adventure.  I love you both!
