My Dear Sisters

Each year as February approaches, I begin to think about the topic of Love. The love of a parent for a child, the kind of love between sisters and brothers in a family, the love that is shared with our husbands, are just a few types of love that exist in this world. In John 13: 34-35 it states: “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall men know that ye are my disciples, it ye have love one to another.” We are meant to love and care for each other while we are here on earth.
Loving those around us is not always easy. “When we believe or say we have been offended, we usually mean we feel insulted, mistreated, snubbed, or disrespected. And certainly clumsy, embarrassing, unprincipled, and mean-spirited things do occur in our interactions with other people that would allow us to take offense. However, it ultimately is impossible for another person to offend you or to offend me. Indeed, believing that another person offended us is fundamentally false. To be offended is a choice we make; it is not a condition inflicted or imposed upon us by someone or something else. (Elder David A. Bednar Nov 2006 Ensign, pp. 89-92)
By showing Christ like love, and forgiving those who have offended us, we can have great peace in our hearts. I know that by loving each other like Christ loves us, we can have greater joy as we live and work together.
